
AEMs Big Rotor Brake Kit allows for use of the Original Equipment (O.E.) brake caliper, making it the most affordable big rotor system on the market. AEMs rotors have an average 20-percent larger surface area and can reduce a vehicles stopping distance by up to 33 percent. These oversized rotors also increase brake torque for reduced pedal effort and have a greater thermal capacity that extends performance during continuous hard braking. Venting and drilling was a key consideration in the engineering process of the rotors and ensures maximum heat dissipation for reliable, consistent braking. The utilization of CNC-machined 6061-T6 billet aluminum rotor hats diminishes the rotors tendency to cup under extreme prolonged use and reduces the overall weight of the rotor when compared to cast versions. The AEM Big Rotor Brake Kit includes brake caliper repositioning brackets, complete Premium Grade and aircraft-quality hardware, comprehensive instructions and AEM decals.
For customers with high horsepower applications or who want the ultimate in clamping power, AEM offers a Four Piston Brake Caliper/Big Rotor Replacement Kit, which adds high performance four piston calipers to our complete Big Rotor Brake Kit. These brake calipers are the same design as ones used on Porsches and feature a larger pad area that provides greater stopping power. Additionally, the brake calipers four-piston design allows for repeated pedal application with minimal fade or decrease in braking efficiency. Each application is designed so that the AEM brake calipers piston area is similar to the stock calipers piston area to maintain O.E. pedal travel.
AEMs Rear Disc Brake Conversion Kit for the Honda Civic EX is currently the only drum to disc conversion kit on the market for Hondas. The kit utilizes O.E. brake calipers, E-brake cables, hoses and hardware, AEM Big Rotors, AEM High Performance Brake Pads and brake caliper location brackets. All remaining hardware is Premium and aircraft-quality Grade. The kit includes comprehensive installation instructions and AEM decals.
