The Sport Compact Market was originally based almost entirely on the air-cooled
Volkswagen Beetle, but beginning in the 1970s, and into the 1980s, the Sport
Compact Market was primarily based on popular Japanese small cars that were great
cars to begin with, but also excellent platforms for various tuning modifications.
Throughout the 1990s, DC Sports was synonymous with Honda and Acura performance
and expanded its product line to include Street-Legal and Competition Headers,
Exhaust Systems, Strut Tower Braces and other accessories. DC Sports developed
unique designs that performed better and therefore became the brand of choice for
serious Honda and Acura enthusiasts. DC Sports has always been first and foremost
about performance but there is also no other product that has the DC Sports look,
feel, and quality.
In 2004, DC Sports was purchased by Advanced Engine Management (AEM), a
leading manufacturer of performance parts specializing in air induction and
electronics for the Sport Compact and Truck/SUV Markets. AEM continued the
strong DC Sports tradition of producing the very best exhaust products and
developed an even stronger connection to motorsports for the brand.
